TVIA RIDES THE YAMANOTE TRAIN

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jan. 19, 2004
- Tvia, Inc. (Nasdaq:TVIA - News), a leading provider of multimedia display processors for the advanced TV and emerging display markets, announced its technology now helps commuters stay informed on Tokyo's Yamanote rail line.

Tvia's CyberProTM 5350 video processor rides in LCD panels onboard each car. The displays provide information and entertainment to the rail line's 350,000 riders each day. "We are pleased that our solution is helping thousands of Tokyo commuters stay up to date on schedules and other programming," said Eli Porat, president and chief executive officer of Tvia. "The CyberPro5350 video processor provides a powerful mix of text and video information on one screen."

The Yamanote line circles Tokyo and is one of the city's most important modes of transportation. The line runs its 200-meter trains close together allowing riders to catch one every two to four minutes. The fast pace makes up-to-date train information vital for commuters. The onboard displays using Tvia-based video, text and graphics allow the Yamanote rail line to impart schedule and travel advisory data quickly.
The CyberPro5350 merges multiple, independent sources of audio, video, text, graphics and animation simultaneously and delivers a high-quality output stream to devices such as traditional cathode-ray tube television, digital television panel displays and other graphics-intense multiple display devices.
