TVIA STREAMING-MEDIA GATEWAY PROCESSOR SERVES UP FUNCTIONALITY IN Cmi WORLDWIDE INTERNET APPLIANCE - the iCEBOX™
Web-enabled, rich media device designed for kitchen using Tvia electronic circuitry

 Santa Clara
, Calif. - April 11, 2001---The kitchen has always been the center of a home. With the advent of online information, suddenly the kitchen took second billing to the home computer. Now, the kitchen can once again take center stage through CMi Worldwide's new product, the iCEBOX™. This is the first web-enabled, rich media, Internet appliance designed specifically for the kitchen and enabled by Tvia, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: TVIA) streaming media gateway processor.

CMi Worldwide is using Tvia's CyberPro™ 5000 family of streaming media processors in the iCEBOX™. CMi Worldwide's founders were behind the design and development of the popular Juiceman™ and the Breadman™ home kitchen appliances.

"The iCEBOX™ is a clear example of how interactive content is being developed for the home," explained Vahe Akay, Tvia's vice president of marketing. "Our streaming media gateway processors helped bring the iCEBOX™ to life by providing the necessary electronic components and design platform for simultaneous display of broadcast TV, DVD and Internet content into the home."

In addition to its standard features of TV, Internet access, home video monitoring, and washable keyboard, the iCEBOX™ includes an untethered portal option, a DVD drive and an 800x600 monitor display. The iCEBOX™ is attractive to consumers who want the convenience of TV, Internet, DVD and multimedia capabilities in one simple to use device.
"Tvia's streaming media processors gave us an easy to use hardware and software solution that reduced design time, increased rich media compatibility and decreased our time to market," said Russ Whitman, CMi President and COO. "CMi's technology focuses on the Household CEO lifestyle. This is why we believe the iCEBOX™ will become the standard for all kitchens."

Just as the microwave oven revolutionized cooking, the iCEBOX™ is designed to change the lifestyles of "Household CEOs" and their families. Scheduled to begin shipping soon, the iCEBOX™ will be distributed through Salton - the distributor of other well known kitchen appliances including hugely successful the Juiceman™ and the George Foreman Grill™.
