TVIA TO EXHIBIT, DEMONSTRATE AND PRESENT AT HOUSEHOLD ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE 2002
James Tao to Speak on Advanced Processors in Home Appliances
 
  SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA – September 10, 2002 – Tvia, Inc. (NASDAQ: TVIA), a leading provider of multi-media display processors for the advanced TV and emerging display markets, today announced that Tvia is scheduled to exhibit and speak at China’s Household Electrical Appliance 2002 conference.
 
The Household Electrical Appliance 2002 conference will be held September 10 – 13 at the Beijing International Exhibition Center. The conference was originally established in 1987 to foster the cultural and economic activities of the China household. This year, attendance is expected to surpass 30,000, with international visitors from Russia, Japan, the United States, Australia and several European countries. Tvia’s scheduled participation in the conference includes exhibition in booth B25-26 and a presentation by James Tao, Tvia’s vice president of sales and marketing.
 
Tvia’s multi-media display processors are designed to blend video, graphics and audio signals from terrestrial broadcast, narrow band telephone lines, cable, satellite and Ethernet and deliver high quality, interactive picture and audio. Tvia processors are used around the world in products such as advanced televisions, security systems, home gateways and other applications that require high quality multiple picture display.
 
Tvia will demonstrate some of its newest products, including the CyberProTM 5202 and the CyberPro5600. The CyberPro5202, optimized for advanced television applications, allows the blending of up to three broadband video streams, and has exceptional graphics to manage applications such as system menus, electronic program guides, and other graphics-intense applications.
 
With a 24-bit RGB port, The CyberPro5600 offers LCD-specific features designed to allow any type of source to be blended and displayed with exceptional quality. Several features specific to the de-interlacing processor of the CyberPro5600 enable superior quality alpha blending, picture-in-picture and multiple picture capabilities. In addition, advanced scaler features allow images to be enlarged or reduced without loss of image quality.
 
In addition to the demonstration and exhibition, Tvia’s vice president of sales and marketing, James Tao, will speak on the evolution of the household appliance and the benefits that multi-media display processors can bring to the home. Tao said, “Interactive displays on household appliances from washing machines to televisions are evolving, and this presentation is geared to demonstrate the advanced features that can be brought to China’s homes.”
